Colombian landslide: Two confirmed dead; 145 missing

In Colombia, two persons, including a two-year-old girl, have been confirmed dead and 145 missing by a severe landslide. Local authorities on Monday said another seven people were injured after the landslide buried about 50 houses in the Medellin suburb of Bello, northwest of the Andean country. Governor of Antioquia, Luis Alfredo Ramos, said the landslide was caused by intense rains in recent days. Ramos said the rescue authorities has set up a command center to look for the missing people. The Colombian government has sent a letter to all the diplomatic missions in Bogota to ask for international aid to help the country cope with the current rain season which is forecast to last until March.
