The Colombia film 'Embrace of The Serpent' adjudged as the best film of the 46th International Film Festival of India after 11 days event concluded in Panaji at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium today evening. Directed by the Ciro Guerra ,the film 'Embrace of The Serpent' was felicitated with the the Golden Peacock and the cash prize of Rs 40 lakh.<br/><br/> Jury chairman Filmmaker Shekar Kapur announced this award in the presence of Goa Governor Smt Mridula Sinha, Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsaker, Minister for state for Information and Broadcasting Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore . The noted music composer A R Rehaman was the chief guest.<br/><br/> "The Best Director award was conferred to the Director Peter Greenway for the Netherlands film 'Eisenstein in Guanajuato. The Best male actor award bagged by Actor Vincent Lindon for the France film 'The Measure of a Man'. The Best Female actor award was adjudged to five Female actress for their roles in the Turkey Film 'Mustang'. The Julia Vargas was honored with the Special Jury Award for his film 'Sealed Cargo'. The ICFT-UNESCO Fellini Award was conferred to the Kaushik Ganguly's Indian Bengali film 'Cinemawala'. <br/><br/><br/> Talking on the occasion Minister for state for Information and Broadcasting Col. Rajyavaerdhan Singh Rathod said that we learn stories of joys sorrows and laughter from the world wide movies . Government has taken ambitious programme of digitalizing 1300 heritage movies of which 375 movies are already digitalized. Chief Guest A R Rehman said that cinema theatres have become modern shrines of unity. Movies depicting humanitarian values can unite the world, he opined.
