Collection of Statistics (Amendment) Bill, 2017 passed in Rajya Sabha

The Collection of Statistics (Amendment) Bill, 2017 has received Parliament approval with the Rajya Sabha adopting the measure today. <br/><br/>The Lok Sabha has passed it earlier. Moving the bill Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation D. V. Sadananda Gowda said that the State of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country which should have the statistical data pertaining to the State. <br/><br/>The Collection of Statistics (Amendment) Bill, 2017 aims at amending the Collection of Statistics Bill, 2008, which facilitates the collection of statistics related to social, economic, demographic, scientific and environmental aspects, by central, state and local governments. <br/><br/>Before adopting the bill, Leader of the opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad warned the government against the passage of the bill. He said, if anything goes wrong the Centre will be held responsible.
