North India continues to battle the bitter cold wave waking up to another frosty morning on Saturday. Cold wave disrupted normal life in both Punjab and Haryana as well as their joint capital Chandigarh . The maximum temperature at all the three places is also hovering between 7 to 10 plus degree Celsius.As if the shivering cold conditions are not enough, the weatherman has predicted ground frost also in Punjab and Haryana in the coming days. Meanwhile, Narnaul in Haryana is continuing to be the coldest place in this part of the Northern region with a minimum temperature settled at 0.7 degree C, yesterday, followed by Karnal at 2 degree C and Hissar with 2.5 degree C. Ambala was also longing for warmth under a minimum temperature of 3.2 degree C.In Punjab, Patiala remained the coldest with 2.3 degree C followed by Bhatinda and Ludhiana with 4 degree C, Adampur near Jalandhar had recorded 4.3 whereas, Amritsar had recorded a minimum of 5.3 degree Celsius.Orissa is experiencing the coldest winter in recent times as people battle the bitter cold wave with mercury plunging to record lows in several parts of the state. Snow falls in many places of Sundergarh and Keonjhar district have been reported with Daringbadi in Kandhamal district being the coldest place of the state with minus 1.5 degree celsius. In Bihar, Gaya was the coldest city in the state with minimum temperature plummeting to 2.5 degree Celsius, six degree less than normal temperature recorded during this period of time. AIR Patna correspondent reports that due to thick fog, several flithts and trains were delayed for many hours due to visibility and adverse weather conditions. Met office said that there would be no significant change in weather conditions for the next two days.Meanwhile, train traffic went out of gear with 100 trains running late and five of them being rescheduled in north region. Northern Railway officials said the Lucknow Shatabdi has been cancelled from both sides while five trains have been rescheduled, including the North East Express and Puri Express. All trains are running at a snail's pace and a speed restriction on running of trains has come into force in some sections between Delhi and Kanpur.
