Cold wave intensifies in Punjab and Haryana

Cold conditions today intensified in Punjab and Haryana with mercury dipping by upto three notches below normal. According to Chandigarh Met office, Amritsar remained the coldest place in the region with a minimum temperature of 3 degree Celsius, down by one degree. Chandigarh shivered at 5.1 degree Celsius, down by two notches below normal. In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 4.3 degree Celsius, while Hisar was at 4.2 degree. Weather office said, fog and mist would continue to prevail at a few places in two the states. Winter chill and shallow fog greeted the residents of the Nation capital as the minimum temperature dropped at 7.0 degrees Celsius, which is a degree below normal. With shallow fog enveloping the city the visibility dropped to 600 meters. However, the fog soon cleared away to make way for a bright day.
