Cold wave intensifies in Punjab

In Punjab, the cold wave has intensified with night temperature plummeting last night to the lowest of the current winter season. Adampur in Jalandhar district had the coldest night of the season with the temperature falling to 2.0 degrees Celsius. The holy city of Amritsar was also cold at 3.0 degrees Celsius. The minimum at Halwara near Ludhiana fell to 5.4 degrees Celsius while the border town of Pathankot recorded 4.6 degrees Celsius. <br/><br/>Dense morning fog disrupted road and rail traffic at several places in the state today. However, the fog lifted as the day progressed giving way to a bright and sunny day. The MET has predicted dense fog tomorrow morning. The weather is expected to remain dry.
