Cold wave intensifies in north India

Cold wave intensified in most parts of north India on Wednesday with mercury further falling in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh and the minimum temperature dipping to 5.2 degree Celsius with icy winds blowing throughout the day. In Amritsar, Punjab, the minimum temperature was 0.6 degree Celsius, three degrees below normal. Ludhiana and Patiala recorded 3.6 and 3.1 degrees, four degrees below normal.<br/><br/>In Haryana, Ambala recorded a low of 1.3 degree Celcius, six degrees below normal.<br/><br/>Clear sky over Jammu and Kashmir led to severe cold wave in most parts of the state with minimum temperature in Kargil slipping to minus 14.4 degrees. In Leh district, the night temperature was minus 9.4 degree Celsius.<br/>Srinagar recorded minus 3.4 degree Celsius.
