Cold wave hits north

The entire Kashmir Valley is in the grip of severe cold wave and minimum temperature has fallen below freezing point. AIR correspondent says that in Srinagar the temperature dipped to minus four. In Rajasthan, Mount Abu has recorded a temperature of 1.6 degree below freezing point and thin layer of snow was visible in open areas. In plain areas Churu was the coldest with 2.6 degree Celsius. Cold conditions continue unabated in most parts of Punjab and Haryana. In Punjab, Amritsar was the coldest place with a temperature of 5.8 degrees celcius. In Haryana Narnaul recorded a minimum temperature of 2.5 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees below normal. However, Chandigarh had a clear sky with the night temperature two degrees above the normal.Delhi had the season's coldest morning today as the mercury plunged to 6.2 degree celsius with chilly wind blowing across the city. The Weatherman said that there will be no respite for the next two days. The mornings are likely to be colder with the minimum temperature expected to be around six and five degree Celsius. The maximum temperature will also be below normal for next two days.
