Cold wave hits north

The entire Kashmir Valley is in the grip of severe cold wave and minimum temperature has fallen below freezing point. AIR correspondent says that in Srinagar the temperature dipped to minus four. In Rajasthan, Mount Abu has recorded a temperature of 1.6 degree below freezing point and thin layer of snow was visible in open areas. In plain areas Churu was the coldest with 2.6 degree Celsius. Cold conditions continue unabated in most parts of Punjab and Haryana. In Punjab, Amritsar was the coldest place with a temperature of 5.8 degrees celcius. In Haryana Narnaul recorded a minimum temperature of 2.5 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees below normal. However, Chandigarh had a clear sky with the night temperature two degrees above the normal.
