Cold wave grips Punjab, Haryana and Ch'garh; Bhatinda coldest at 3.1C

Cold wave gripped the northern parts of the country including Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory Chandigarh. AIR correspondent Rajesh Bali reports, Night temperature in the region has dipped further and partly cloudy sky during the day has increased the cold. He says that in Punjab, Bhatinda has remained the coldest with minimum of 3.1 degree C, today, followed by Adampur near Jalandhar with 5.4 and Amritsar with 5.6 degree C. Ludhiana which was 6.9 yesterday, has recorded 7.4 degree C, today whereas in Patiala minimum temperature has decreased from 7.4 degree C of yesterday to 6.1 degree C, today. In Haryana, Hissar has experienced further dip in the minimum temperature and has remained the coldest in the state with minimum of 3.8 degree C. Whereas, Chandigarh has recorded a minimum of 10.5 degree Celsius, today as compared to 9.7 degree C, yesterday. The Chandigarh Met deptt. has predicted partly cloudy sky with early morning mist or shallow fog in the next 48 hours in the region.
