Cold wave grips northern parts of India

The Northern parts of the Country including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana continue to remain in the grip of intense cold wave condition over the last couple of days.<br/><br/>Talking to AIR, MeT Director R K Jenamani said however, the region will get respite from the dense fog due to blowing of strong north-western wave. He said, during the period the day will be sunny but the temperature in the night will plunge to three to four degree Celsius below normal.<br/><br/><br/>In Delhi, today the maximum temperature was recorded 19.2 degree Celsius which is two degree below normal. While , the minimum temperature was recorded 7.2 degree Celsius, one notch below normal. Reports from Srinagar stated that Dal Lake has frozen and Gulmarg, world famous ski resort of Pahalgam and border town of Kargil recorded coldest night of the season. <br/><br/>Kargil, on Srinagar-Leh national highway, recorded coldest night of the season after the mercury witnessed further drop and settled at minus 14.5 degrees. Leh shivered at minus 12.9 degrees.
