Cold wave continued to sweep north and eastern parts of the country. In Himachal Pradesh, intense cold wave continued unabated as Met Department has warned of heavy rain and snowfall at many places in mid and higher hills for the next four days.<br/><br/>Met office said, another western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region from today onwards. High altitude tribal areas froze under sub-zero temperature with mercury staying below minus 18 to minus 23 degree celsius. Key tourist resort of Manali recorded minimum temperature of minus 6.8 degree celsius. <br/>'<br/>In Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar recorded the coldest night for January in the past five years at minus 6.8 degree celsius. Water supply lines and water bodies including the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar froze due to intense cold.<br/>'<br/>In Uttarakhand, several places recorded sub-zero temperature during the past two days. Dehradun recorded a low of 2.9 degree celsius for the second time this season.<br/>'<br/>Cold wave conditions further intensified in national capital Delhi which recorded a minimum of 3.2 degree celsius yesterday. <br/>'<br/>Biting cold continued to sweep Uttar Pradesh with dense fog occurring at isolated places in the state. The lowest temperature of 1.2 degree celsius was recorded at Muzaffarnagar. <br/>'<br/>In Bihar, capital Patna recorded the season's lowest temperature of 4.8 degree celsius, mainly due to westerly wind and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. <br/>
