Cold wave conditions continue in Northern India; 30 more deaths reported from UP

In Uttar Pradesh there is respite from spine chilling cold conditions and dense fog prevailing across the state. Death toll has reached to 302 in the state with 30 fresh casualties are reported from different district including four succumbed of cold in Mahoba including an infant, three each in Mainpuri and Bijnore, two each in Bareilly, Sitapur and Siddhartha Nagar, while one each succumbed to cold in Agra, Sultanpur, Maharajganj, Shahjahanpur, Hamirpur, Banda, Jalaun, Meerut, Baghpat, Sant Kabir Nagar, Deoria, Kushinagar, Basti and Barabanki districts. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports, considering bad weather condition state government has directed to remain close all primary and junior high schools till 15th of this month. It will be applicable to all English and Hindi medium schools up to class 8th standard. The government has also directed the schools administration to change the timing for standard IX to standard XII in view of shivering cold. According to Meteorological department today, weather has been dry in all parts of the state in last 24 hours. Hamirpur was the coldest place with minimum temperature at 5.2 degrees Celsius. Night temperature has been recorded below normal in Jhansi division while it rose in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Allahabad and Kanpur divisions and changed little in remaining divisions of the state. The weatherman has forecast a dry weather for most parts of the state in the next 24 hrs.
