Cold wave conditions prevailed in most parts of north India even as mercury rose marginally in Punjab and Haryana. In Delhi, the mercury hovered around six degree Celsius. Met office said, icy winds blowing over north India and snowfall in higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have resulted in cold conditions in the national capital. In Rajasthan, Mount Abu remained the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 2 degree Celsius, followed by Ganganagar where people shivered at 4.9 degrees. While Churu chilled at 5.4 degree Celsius, it was 5.7 degrees at Pilani.<br/><br/>The weatherman said the condition is likely to improve in some parts of the state in next three to four days by a few notches due to western disturbance.<br/><br/>The cold wave slightly abated in some parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh where thick fog and mist was witnessed at several places. Amritsar was the coldest place recording a minimum temperature of zero degree, four degrees below normal. Chandigarh saw mercury settling at 3.8 degree Celsius, while Ludhiana it was 0.6 degrees.<br/><br/>In Haryana, Ambala recorded minimum temperature of 3.0 C against Tuesday's low of 0.3 C, while Rohtak recorded a minimum temperature of 1 C.<br/><br/>Sun came out in Shimla providing some comfort to the people from biting cold but higher areas in Himachal Pradesh continued to reel under sub-zero temperature.<br/><br/>Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul & Spiti district, was the coldest place in the state with night temperature of minus 8.3 C, while Kalpa in Kinnaur district registered night temperature of minus 3.7 C.<br/><br/>The continued dry spell in Kashmir valley is likely to break as light snow has been forecast at isolated places on higher reaches during the next 24 hours. There was not much difference in the day and night<br/><br/>temperatures in the valley even as parts of Ladakh continued to be under the grip of severe cold as minimum temperature dipped to minus 15.4 in Leh and minus 13.2 in Kargil. The day temperature in the two districts was minus 2 in Leh and minus 1.6 in Kargil.<br/>
