Cold wave and frost hit crops in MP

In Madhya Pradesh, crops have been hit badly in several districts due to cold wave and frost. The state government has initially assessed the damage caused to crops to the tune of five thousand crore rupees. State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in Delhi on Tuesday to seek financial assistance. Mr. Chouhan apprised PM that pulse crops worth rupees five thousand crore rupees were damaged in about one lakh hectare land by frost. AIR Bhopal correspondent reports that five farmers have committed suicide in the state in one month due to crop failure and pressure of debt.
