Cold conditions persist in Himachal

The plains of Haryana and Punjab saw minimum temperatures rise slightly above normal, while the cold conditions persisted in Himachal Pradesh due to rain and snowfall. Overcast skies in the national capital Delhi kept the mercury below the normal level as it experienced light rain. MeT office said that the minimum temperature hovered above two deg C above normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana. Meanwhile, intense cold wave persisted in Himachal Pradesh. Tribal areas and higher reaches had moderate snowfall, while the mid-hills received widespread rain accompanied by strong velocity winds. The MeT office has warned of heavy to very heavy rain and snow in some parts of the state during the next 24 hours.
