In Uttar Pradesh, most of the cities remained enveloped under thick fog this morning. The sky is misty at most of the eastern districts. The temperature ranged between 9 to 11 degrees Celsius at 8:30 this morning. The sky is clear in Varanasi, Allahabad and adjoining places. The met office has predicted foggy condition to prevail for next two days. A report-Despite an increase in the minimum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana, the cold wave is still persisiting. The flights from Amritsar international airport have also been delayed in the wake of low visibility due to foggy conditions.Most places in Uttrakhand today got a temporary respite from the severe cold condition with day temperature rising between 2 to 5 degree Celsius following the sun shine. However, high altitude areas continued to reel under the chilly conditions. The cold wave conditions have further intensified in the national capital Delhi as temperature continues to fall. The maximum temperature yesterday plummeted four degrees below normal to settle at 16.7 degrees while the minimum this morning was a degree above average at 7.8 degrees. The met department predicts the mercury to dip further in the coming days with the maximum and minimum temperature expected to be around 15 and seven degrees today. Although dense fog is not likely to descend in coming days, the weathermen say that Chilly winds blowing across the city will lead to cold conditions. In Jammu and Kashmir, three persons have died due to severe cold in Jammu Division. While two died in Udhampur district , body of an unidentified person was recovered by police from the outskirts of Jammu city. Severe cold wave has been sweeping across the Jammu region during the past three days which has resulted in sharp dip in the day temperature, recorded at 14.5 Degree Celsius. The cold and fog forced the people to remain mostly indoors.
