Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore today congratulated the All India Radio family on completion of 80 years of AIR. In a series of tweets, Mr Rathore said AIR is an integral part of the lives of the people and most have an emotional connect with it. <br/><br/>He informed that AIR has embarked on an ambitious expansion plan to extend FM coverage to 65 percent of the population of the country for noise free improved sound quality. He said, AIR reaches more than 99 percent of India's population, catering to a wide spectrum of socio-cultural diversity, focusing on Information and Edutainment. AIR correspondent reports All India Radio is one of the largest radio networks in the world. On this day in 1936, the Indian State Broadcasting Service became All India Radio.
