<span style="color: #222222;">Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy has said the industrial city of Coimbatore has performed well in containing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. He laid the foundation stone for the first phase of a drinking water project at the cost of 166-crore rupees in the city today. Later, he reviewed various other ongoing development projects in the district. In his address, Mr Palaniswamy reiterated that the state has not yet gone into the stage of the Covid-19 community spread.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR correspondent reports, the state's total Covid-19 infection has gone up close to 71-thousand with 3509 new cases today. By far, this is the biggest single day spike in the state. However, in stark contrast to many other districts, Coimbatore has the active caseload of 170 patients, one of the least in the state, which has been lauded by the chief minister. New infections in the city are also minimal as compared to many other cities. The feat has been achieved by Coimbatore despite being a major city in the state next to Chennai in terms of industrial activities. </span><br />''
