Union Labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya has informed that 44 archaic labour laws are amalgamated into four labour codes as part of labour reforms to generate employment and improve industrial relations. <br/><br/>Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru today, he said Codes on wages and Industrial Relations will come up for discussion in the next session of Parliament. He noted that his ministry is working on reaching social security benefits to unorganized sector which constitutes 93 percent of workforce. <br/><br/>The ministry is planning to issue Uwin ID cards to workers which have identity numbers that can help workers in the unorganized sector to reap the benefit of Jan suraksha yojana, Jeevan Jyothi yojana, Atal Pension scheme, Swasthya beema yojana among others. <br/><br/>Another important programme of the ministry is to bring the benefits of Provident fund and ESIC medical insurance scheme to Anganwadi, Asha and mid-day meal workers.
