The contribution of coconut in country's GDP is about 20,000 crore rupees and its productivity in the country is about 10,345 coconut per hectare annually. Addressing a function in Bhubaneswar organised to celebrate World Coconut Day and National Award presentation ceremony Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh said this today. On the occasion, the Agriculture Minister awarded prizes to 14 best farmers under 8 categories in the field of coconut production. Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan was also present on the occasion.
