Coastguard, Indian Navy jointly rescues 30 people from sinking cargo vessel in Mumbai

A joint team of Coastguard and Indian Navy have rescued all the thirty people on board cargo vessel MV RAK carrier, which is sinking off the Mumbai coast. Coastguard sources informed that the ship, MV RAK, was coming from Indonesia to Gujarat carrying coal. The sources informed that Coastguard received a distress signal from MV RAK carrier and Coastguard and Navy helicopters and boats were deployed for rescue operations immediately after receiving the signal.There is no immediate threat of pollution from the cargo on board but D G Shipping is keeping a close watch to check on the extent of damage to the vessel. Coast Guard is also on standby for any anti-pollution operation if required.
