Coastal Tamilnadu districts receive devastating rain

Rain continue to lash the coastal districts of Tamilnadu. The district collector of Nagapattinam, Mr Munianathan has said that it has been one of the worst hit districts with 37 thousand 612 hectares of paddy and 10 hectares of groundnut submerged in flood waters.<br/><br/>One person was washed away and seven people have been injured in house collapse.<br/><br/>A 24 ft humming whale one of the rare species weighing five tones was washed ashore after being badly injured.<br/><br/>Nagapattinam has recorded 16 cm rainfall, the highest in the last 24 hours.<br/><br/>The Met department’s release today has predicted isolated heavy rain over coastal Tamilnadu and Puducherry during the next 24 hours. Chennai has been experiencing moderate showers today.<br/>
