Coal Secretary Susheel Kumar has directed Coal India Limited, CIL to supply 225 Railway rakes of Coal per day to Power Sector. Reviewing the coal supply position to the thermal power plants in the country, Mr Kumar also asked the CIL to setup a control room to monitor the coal supply position to the thermal power plants on 24×7 basis.<br/><br/>To meet the emergent situation of coal supply, Coal Secretary also asked the CIL to increase the coal loading through railway rakes to 250 rakes per day. <br/><br/>Mr Kumar said, for every power plant, one subsidiary of CIL has been assigned the role of lead company. The lead company shall be responsible to monitor and ensure that the power plants linked to it are out of criticality.<br/><br/>Chief Managing Director of CIL said, there has been a growth of 17.8 per cent in coal off take in August this year as compared to August last year. He said, the overall cumulative growth in coal off take is 7.2 per cent in the current year corresponding to the same period last year.
