Coal production has increased to 253 million tons during the current financial year till 15th of this month. This is 8 million tons more than the production made in the corresponding period last year. This was disclosed by Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal today at a meeting held in New Delhi to review coal production targets. In the meeting, the coal production target was set at 460 million tons for this fiscal. Reviewing the performance of coal companies, the Minister directed to chalk out action plans to improve overall performance. He said the each company should have specific monthly target of production and should strictly adhere to it.
