Coal mine explosion leaves one dead in Russia

In Russia, an explosion in a coal mine in western Siberia killed one person and injured two. Officials said a sudden build up of the methane gas at the Krasnogorskaya mine ignited as 66 miners were at work. 65 were evacuated. State television reported the Krasnogorskaya mine is one of the region's oldest, built in the 1940s.New safety equipment had recently been installed but it could not prevent the blast.
