Both the Houses of Parliament have been adjourned, the Lok Sabha for the day and the Rajya Sabha till 2 pm today on the coal blocks allocation issue. Earlier, the two Houses witnessed an hour-long adjournment. The BJP members surged into the well of the House, as soon as the Houses re-assembled after their first adjournment, demanding the Prime Minister's resignation. Some DMK members were also seen displaying placards asking the Centre to stop training the Sri Lankan Army personnel in India. Amidst the din, however, the Lok Sabha could pass the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) Bill, 2010. The Bill seeks to declare the Bangalore-based hospital as an Institution of National Importance.
The Rajya Sabha also witnessed noisy scenes with the BJP members trooping into the well in support of their demand. The agitating members continued to shout slogans despite the appeal by Deputy Chairman P J Kurein for calm. He observed that the House cannot pass important Bills if the members continued shouting in the well.
