CBI has summoned former Coal Secretary P C Parakh for questioning in connection with a case for alleged abuse of official position in granting a coal block in Odisha to Hindalco. Official sources today said that Parakh has been asked to appear before the agency on Friday.

The investigation agency had last year registered a case against Parakh, unknown officials of Hindalco and coal ministry. Parakh is accused of favouring Hindalco by changing the allotment of Talabira-II coal block as against Screening Committee's recommendation in favour of Public Sector Undertaking Neyveli Lignite Limited.
