Indian men's hockey team chief coach Paul Van Ass today created a flutter by claiming that he has been fired by Hockey India. The outspoken Dutchman says he was conveyed that his services were no longer required. Van Ass told PTI from The Netherlands that he was fired one week after the Hockey World League Semi-finals in Antwerp, Belgium. He, however clarified that he is yet to get official confirmation. Hockey India has outrightly denied that Van Ass has been sacked and said that he had not reported for his duty on the stipulated date.There was no immediate confirmation of the development from Van Ass' employer the Sports Authority of India. Sports Ministry officials also clarified that they are yet to receive any form of communication from Hockey India on the sacking of Paul Van Ass. According to media reports, Van Ass had a public spat with Hockey India president Narinder Batra after the quarter-final match against Malaysia at the World League semifinals.
