CNG to be dearer by 45 paise per kg in Delhi, 50 paise in Noida, Greater Noida & Ghaziabad

Compressed Natural Gas, CNG will be dearer by 45 paise per kilogram in Delhi and 50 paise in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad from midnight tonight. With this, the CNG will now cost 38 rupees per Kilogram in Delhi and 43 rupees 30 paise in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. Indraprastha Gas Limited has also increased the price of Piped Natural Gas by 45 paise per Standard Cubic Meter, SCM in Delhi and 50 paise in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. Now it will cost 25 rupees 35 paise in Delhi and 27 rupees five paise per scm in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. However, it has given a major relief to domestic consumers by abolishing the upper slab of PNG consumption. Consequently there will be a single slab rate from Monday. The IGL spokesperson said that the revision was necessitated due to appreciation of dollar- rupee rate and increase in operating expenses following hike in minimum wages announced by the government. According to the company, the increase will have a negligible impact on the per kilometer running cost of vehicles. For autos, the increase will be one paise per kilometer, for taxi 2 paise and for buses 13 paise per kilometer. The company claimed that the price being charged by it would still be among the lowest in the country. It said, as compared to petrol driven vehicles, the CNG would offer 58 per cent savings towards the running cost and it would be 27 per cent when compared to diesel vehicle in Delhi.
