CNG demand on rise after increase in petrol, diesel prices

The demand for CNG is on the rise especially after the increased prices of petrol and diesel and rising environment concerns. But its supply in the national capital does not seem to match this ever increasing demand. Long queues of cars and auto rickshaws can be seen outside the gas filling stations. Those waiting to get their tanks filled say that on an average they have to wait for around half hour for their turns and also feel inadequate avaibality of CNG. However, Director of Indraprastha Gas Limited, Mr.Rajesh Vedvyas talking to All India Radio accepted that number of CNG outlets need to be increased. He said that 54 new CNG stations will be added to the existing 187 stations to meet the growing demand. With 4000 cars being added to the CNG vehicle category per month, their is an urgent need to choke out measures to cater to this demand.
