In Uttar Pradesh, all four senior most officials from the Gonda district including District Magistrate, District Police Chief, Chief Development Officer CDO and the Chief Medical Officer CMO have been removed. The government has taken this decision after resignation of the Minister of State for Revenue and Rehabilitation Mr. Vinod Singh alias Pandit Singh. The Minister had resigned after being accused for abducting the CMO Dr. SP Singh. Quoting official sources our Allahabad correspondent reports that a fresh inquiry has been initiated into the entire episode and Divisional Commissioner Lucknow and Principle Secretary Information Sanjeev Mittal has been asked to conduct the inquiry. He has been directed to complete his inquiry within a week. He will also conduct probe into the role of senior officers of the district during the incident. Senior most Deputy Chief Medical Officer of the district has been given charge of the CMO post while for other three posts new incumbents have been posted. The outgoing Minister has demanded free and fair probe into his alleged roll into alleged abduction case. AIR correspondent reports that Mr. Singh is first Minister who has been forced to resign from the Akhilesh Yadav Ministry after being involved in an alleged criminal act. About three criminal cases are already lodged against him and he and his brother were also named into the alleged multi crore food grain scam in the state during the previous Mulayam Singh Yadav regime. The scam is being probed by the CBI. Meanwhile the government has clarified that further actions on the result of contract recruitment of doctors by the district health department under National Rural Health Mission NRHM will be taken after the probe.
