Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation -CMDC has described de-allocation of its coal block as “unfair”.

AIR Correspondent reports that CMDC, Managing Director Prem Kumar said that it will take up the matter with Union Coal Ministry besides considering legal measures if required.

The Ministry of Coal de-allocated Shankarpur (Bhatgaon-II) & Ext coal block allocated to CMDC and directed forfeiture of 50 per cent of bank guarantee.

Both these coal blocks were in the centre of a controversy after the CMDC entered into a joint venture of Nagpur based SMS Infrastructure of BJP leader Ajay Sancheti.

Sancheti is known to be close to BJP President Mr. Nitin Gadkari. Meanwhile , Pradesh Congress Committee of Chhattisgarh demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.
