The Cauvery Monitoring Committee, CMC has decided that Tamil Nadu should get 8.85 thousand million cubic feet of water over the next fortnight. However, Karnataka maintained that it would not accept it.

The award of the Committee is based on the findings of a central team that visited Karnataka and Tamil Nadu last week.

The CMC will meet again on October 29 to review the situation. The Committee said if the northeast monsoon, which is likely to hit Tamil Nadu, is successful, the decision could be changed with effect from October 29 itself.

The Supreme Court will hear the proceeding today.
