As the political crisis deepens in Karnataka, the state Chief Minister B.S.Yeddyurappa has requested the Governor to convene the Assembly on next Monday to prove his majority. Yeddyurappa met Governor Hans Raj Bharadwaj on Wednesday evening after he was to prove his majority.The development followed the Governor receiving letters signed by 14 BJP and 5 independent MLAs withdrawing their support to the Government. They include 7 Ministers.Thereafter, the Chief Minister had dispatched letters dropping four Ministers – D. Sudhakar, Venkataramanappa, Narendra Swamy and Shivaraj Tangadagi from the Council of Ministers, which was accepted by the Governor.These four Independent MLAs were given Ministerial berths for supporting the Government. In another development the rebel group suffered a set back when two BJP legislators B P Harish and Doddanna Gowda G Patil met Governor and reinstated their support to this Government.AIR Correspondent reports that the dissidents stationed in Chennai seemed to have split and proceeding to various destinations. AIR Correspondent reports, the drama enacted by both rebels and loyalists in Karnataka will conclude only on October 11. The picture still remains hazy about the fate of first BJP Government in South India. The BJP has 117 members in the Assembly and had the support of six Independent MLAs. Now out of them four Independent MLAs are dropped. Now it has to be seen out of 14 BJP MLAs whose signature has been submitted to the governor how many will backtrack and come back to support the government. 113 are needed for simple majority. The dissidents who have now split are proceeding to various resorts in Bangalore and other places. This being the case, floor test alone will clear the ambiguity that prevails now.
