<span style="color: #222222;">Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has assured that the replacement of shutters in the Mukkombu dam near Trichy will be completed by January next. Speaking to reporters after inspecting the ongoing repair works at Mukkombu, Shri Palanisamy said that 35% of the 387 crore rupees project have already been completed.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Answering a query, the Chief Minister clarified that that the interests of Tamilnadu will be safeguarded as far as the Meghadathu dam issue with Karnataka is concerned.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Upper Anaicut or Mukkombu dam is situated about 18 kilometers west of Trichy, at a point where the River Kollidam branches out from the main river, Cauvery. In August 2018, nine of the forty-five shutters had washed away due to the heavy flow of water and the weakened piers.</span><br />''  <br />
