West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has demanded disaster relief of 21 thousand crore rupees from the Centre in view of recent flood in the state. Ms. Banerjee called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi this evening. Talking to reporters after the meeting, the Chief Minister said she has submitted a memorandum to Mr. Modi and he assured to look into the matter.<br/><br/>She said around 1 crore people have been affected by the flood and the state has suffered losses of 30,000 crore rupees. Ms. Banerjee said she also raised the issue of reported stoppage of central funds for several schemes like modernisation of police and sought a meeting of NITI Ayog to discuss the issue.
