CM letter to HM on reported interference in gangrape victim's statement

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has written to Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to order a high level inquiry into reports that top policemen interfered in the recording of the 23-year-old gangrape survivor's statement. The Sub Divisional Magistrate trying to record the statement of the survivor said the police officials' briefing did not match the survivor's statement, citing pressure from the police.The modalities of the complaint are yet to be worked out.

The 23-year-old gang-rape victim continues to be critical and she remains on ventilator support. Doctors at the Safdarjung Hospital, where she is being treated had yesterday said her condition was very serious and very critical.Doctors say the bleeding which is because of sepsis,remains a cause of major concern as far as the girl's health is concerned. But on the positive side, doctors say she is responding to treatment.
