Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has written to Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to order a high level inquiry into reports that top policemen interfered in the recording of the 23-year-old gangrape survivor's statement. The Sub Divisional Magistrate trying to record the statement of the survivor said the police officials' briefing did not match the survivor's statement, citing pressure from the police. The modalities of the complaint are yet to be worked out.
The rape survivor gave her statement to the SDM on Saturday. Her health remains a big concern. Doctors say she remains in a critical condition in Safdarjung Hospital. On Monday night, her condition took a turn for the worse as doctors indicated she had more internal bleeding. But on the positive side, doctors say she is responding to treatment.
