In the wake of the arrest of 24 more fishermen from Tamil Nadu by Srilankan Navy on Monday, the state Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's immediate personal attention to secure their release along with the other fishermen who have been apprehended earlier. In a letter to him today, she has said, in the past 20 days, there have been 6 separate incidents of arrests from their traditional fishing waters.<br/><br/>Terming it as an aggressive action by the neighbouring nation, she has said it inflicts huge misery and hardship on the fishermen. She has said, this is a livelihood issue of thousands of fishermen, which is taking a huge social and political dimension, and urged the Prime Minister to initiate concrete actions to find a long term solution to the issue.
