Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced that monetary assistance would be provided to the farmers of the crops damaged during the current spate of flood in the state. He said, the affected people will be given adequate food and shelter. After conducting an aerial survey of the flood hit districts of Sitamarhi, Samastipur, Saharsa, Supaul, Khagaria, Naugachia and parts of Nalanda district yesterday, Nitish Kumar said the flood situation in the state is under control.AIR correspondent reports, the major rivers in the state including the Ganga and Sone are receding, though most of them are still flowing above the danger mark. Relief and rescue operations are also on alongwith repair work of damaged embankments of Bagmati, Kamlabalan, Lakhandei and Kosi. Road traffic is still disrupted at many places as flood water is overflowing several national highways including the NH 104 connecting Sheohar to Sitamarhi. Rail movement is also affected following over topping of flood water on the railway tracks between Darbhanga and Sitamarhi.
