In Himachal Pradesh, Congress has convened a meeting of all the 36 newly elected members in Shimla this evening at 5.00 p.m to elect the leader of the Congress Leislative Party.
According to the party sources, the Central Observers, the AICC General Secretary Janadharan Dwevedi , the Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheela Dixit and the State Incharge for party’s affairs Virender Chouhdary will take part in the meeting.
The Congress has wrested power in the state from the BJP winning 36 seats in the 68 member Assembly, a gain of 13 seats in its last Assembly tally of 23.
In Gujarat, the newly elected BJP Legislators will meet on Tuesday in Gandhinagar to elect their leader of the Legislature party. Chief Minsiter Narendra Modi has dissolved his Council of Ministers and handed over his resignation to the Governor on Friday.
AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that Narendra Modi is all set to take the oath as Chief Minster on the 26th December at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Top National Party leaders including L.K.Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitly and Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states are likely to be present at the oath taking ceremony.
BJP has retained power in Gujarat by winning 115 seats in 182 member state Assembly, which is two less in comparison to the 2007 assembly poll.
Meanwhile, newly elected Congress MLA from Morva Hadaf constituency in Panchmahal district Savita Khant has passed away on Friday suffering brain hemorrhage. Due to her death, Congress tally in the assembly is reduced to 60.
