The world of cinema has grown richer due to the ongoing international film festival of India, IFFI. Its golden Jubilee edition began earlier this week and is enjoying great patronage by thousands of delegates in Goa. '' '' AIR correspondent reports that IFFI 2019 will see 3 Premieres as opening, mid-fest and closing films the 50th IFFI began with a grand opening ceremony on the 20th of November. The star-studded musical extravaganza heralded nine days of films and events in Goa. '' '' &nbsp;The day also saw screening of the Opening Film, Despite the Fog directed by Goran Paskaljevic. '' '' The film throws light on challenges faced by refugees in Italy. '' '' Today, delegates can catch the German film Traumfabrik which marks the Mid fest Gala screening. '' &nbsp; '' A romantic drama set in 1961, it is about a young man's quest for love after the Berlin wall separates them. The Martin Schreier directorial venture can be caught today at 4 pm at the Kala Academy in Panjim. '' '' The India Premiere of "Marghe and her Mother" directed by Iranian Master, &nbsp; Mohsen Makhmalbaf will be the closing film of IFFI. '' '' The movie talks about &nbsp;Marghe, a six-year-old who has to live with an old woman after her single mother defaults on rent. '' '' After the screening of over 200 films, the festival will see curtains down on the 28th of November. '' '' A closing ceremony on the theme of Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat is expected to draw both crowds and star power as well.&nbsp; '' &nbsp;

The 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will end on Wednesday in Goa.&nbsp; '' '' The closing ceremony will be held at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Taleigaon, near Panaji in the evening.&nbsp; '' '' The closing film is Sealed Lips from Germany, while the opening film was The Aspern Papers. 222 movies from 67 countries were screened at the nine-day event. Master writer Salim Khan will be honoured with the IFFI special award for his lifetime contribution to cinema at the closing ceremony.&nbsp; '' '' 26 feature films and 21 non-feature films were screened in the Indian Panorama section.&nbsp; '' '' While Israel was the focus country, Jharkhand was the focus state this year. This is for the first time that any state was made focus state at IFFI. '' '' Veteran Israeli filmmaker Dan Wolman was given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the opening ceremony. Another new section at IFFI this year was the screening of six Indian sports biopics as an extension of the Khelo India initiative. In the International competition section, 15 movies were screened, out of which 3 were Indian. '' '' At Masterclasses and In-Conversations, a host of film personalities interacted with delegates. They include Prasoon Joshi, Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, Jahnvi Kapoor, David Dhawan, Varun Dhawan and Shaji Karun. Two movies, Sholay and Hichki, were also screened at this year's IFFI as part of a special package for visually impaired persons.&nbsp; '' '' 12 films including two from India have been nominated for this year's ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal.
