The US Secretary of State, Ms. Hillary Clinton met the West Bengal Chief Minister, Ms. Mamta Banerjee at the Writers' Building in Kolkata today.

US investments in West Bengal and FDI in retails, apart from the Indo- Bangladesh Teesta water sharing treaty is understood to have figured in the talks.

Ms. Clinton and Ms. Banerjee first had one-to-one talks followed by delegation level talks.

Later, Ms. Clinton left for New Delhi. There was strict security measures put in place for Ms. Clinton's visit to Kolkata.

Earlier, in the morning Ms. Clinton joined an interactive programme at the La Martinere school in Kolkata.

In reply to a question Ms. Clinton said that Pakistan should take firm steps against Hafiz Sayeed the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

The US Secretary of State will arrive in New Delhi later today.

She will meet External Affairs Minister SM Krishna tomorrow. Civil nuclear cooperation, regional security and Iran are among the key issues that US Secretary of State is expected to discuss with Mr. Krishna.

The two leaders will also review progress made in Indo-US strategic partnership ahead of the strategic dialogue between the two countries to be held in Washington on 13th of next month.

Ms. Clinton is also expected to call on Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
