Clear weather brings respite at some places in Uttarakhand

In Uttarakhand, people got respite as the weather is clear at some places in the state on Monday. However met department predicts more rain may occur in hilly areas in next 24 hours. Meanwhile the waters of Tehri Dam crossed the danger level and authorities released eight hundred fifty cusecs of water. Dozens of villages are flooded in Haridwar and other parts of the state. A large number of pilgrims are stranded at various places following the road blockage. District authorities are engaged to clear and repair the roads. Meanwhile three companies of National Disaster Responce Force (NDRF) have reached the affected areas. AIR correspondent reports, although Weather is clear in Haridwar, Dehradun and some other parts of the state right now, yet weathermen have warned that scattered rain and thundershowers are still possible in the state. Meanwhile about nine hundred cusecs water has been released on Monday from Tehri dam. Dozens of villages in the lake's periphery has been evacuated by the authorities. However, the latest reports from Haridwar said that the water level in Ganga had shown slight decrease and the authorities were hoping that the additional flow from Tehri dam would not cause much damage. The NDRF personnel, at the disposal of the Haridwar administration, are keeping an eye on the situation. Meanwhile, heavy rain and landslide disrupted train and telecom services besides the water and the power supply already out of gear.
