Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign was organised across the country where people in large number participated in cleanliness activities. As called upon by the Prime Minister, a campaign, 'Swachhta Hi Sewa', is underway from 15th of this month which will continue till 2nd of October, 2017. <br/><br/>In New Delhi, Defence Minister Nirmala Satharaman formally launched 'Swachhta Hi Sewa' campaign at Delhi Cantonment. Speaking on the occasion, Ms Sitharaman informed that her Ministry has allocated 50 crore rupees to Cantonment Boards for cleaning activities, waste management and construction of toilets.The Defence Minister also flagged off 11 Solid Waste Management vehicles and seven special auto rickshaws for door to door collection of wastes. <br/><br/>Ministry of Tourism also organised Swachhta Hi Seva" campaign at Lawns of India Gate in New Delhi. Tourism Minister Alphons Kannanthanam along with Senior officers participated in the campaign. Ministry of Tourism has prepared an Action Plan for launching this campaign at various important tourist sites across the country. <br/>'<br/>Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and Culture Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma also participated in the Swachhta Hi Sewa Sbhiyaan' at various parts of the capital. They encouraged citizens to participate in Swachhta hi Sewa Abhiyaan up to 2nd October 2017 as a tribute to the Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his Jayanti.
