In Congo, at least 31 people including security personnel were killed and 14 others injured in clashes between the security forces and a tribal militia in Kasai province. The Deputy Governor of Kasai province has said, the fighting broke out when Congolese forces intervened to restore order following dispute over a local chieftaincy. <br/><br/>Kasai is a particularly isolated and under-developed region in DR Congo. DR Congo has been wracked by recent violence sparked by a political crisis brought on by the postponing of a presidential election which had been due to take place before the end of the year.
