In Bangladesh, three persons have been killed and more than hundred injured following clashes between police and ready made garment factory workers in Chittagong. The clashes were triggered off during protests by garment workers after a South Korean garment company decided to shutdown its factories following workers unrest over implementation of the new wage structure announced by the government. According to Police officials in Chittagong, one of the deceased was identified to be a rickshaw-puller, while two bodies remain un- identified. In the morning, the Chittagong Export Processing Zone area turned into a battlefield as garment workers indulged in vandalism ransacking several vehicles and setting fire to a bus, forcing the police to resort to lathi charge and tear gas to disperse the protesting workers. Most of the factories in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone area were closed down following the clash. In addition to this protests by garment workers in industrial areas around Dhaka over the implementation of the new wages left more than twenty injured.
