Thakshila Dilrukshi Jayasena, a local correspondent for BBC Sinhala service sustained injuries and was hospitalized when the supporters of the ruling UPFA combine and the common opposition Presidential contender clashed at Polonnaruwa on Wednesday. According to the BBC Sinhala service, the lady journalist was assaulted as she was leaving after covering the clash. She was reportedly robbed of her equipment and jewellery. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan police say that a team has been assigned to investigate the attack on a BBC reporter in Polonnaruwa.
