CL T20: CSK defeat Mumbai Indians by 6 runs

Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by 6 runs in a dead rubber Group-B match of the Champions League Twenty-20 cricket tournament at Johannesburg, South Africa last night. Put into bat, Chennai scored 173 for 8 in the stipulated 20 overs, with a brilliant 86-run opening wicket partnership of Faf du Plessis and Murali Vijay. Du Plessis top scored for Chennai with 52, while Murali Vijay made 39. In reply, Mumbai could make only 167 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Dinesh Kartik made a blistering 74 but could not take his team home, as Chennai registered its first victory of the tournament. Ben Hilfenhaus bagged 2 wickets for just 14 runs in his 4 overs and was adjudged man of the match. Our correspondent reports, both teams were already out of the semi-final race, as they had failed to win their initial encounters in the tournament. Earlier, in the other match, Highveld Lions beat Yorkshire by 5 wickets at the same venue to enter the semi finals. In today's Group-A matches, Delhi Daredevils will take on Perth Scorchers at 5 PM (IST), while Kolkata Knight Riders will clash with Titans at 9 PM. Both matches will be played at Newlands in Cape Town.
